Yield Guild Games, or YGG, a blockchain gaming guild has seen a record 174% increase in players in Q1 of 2o22. By the end of the quarter, 29,548 scholars were playing various games across the metaverse with the help of the Philippines-based company.

The Increase in Users
The company released a Community Update for Q1 of 2022 on Medium. Here, they confirmed a 174% increase in players in the year’s opening quarter. They attributed much of this to YGG’s subDAOs launching more scholarships in their partner games. These SubDAOs are YGG India, YGG South East Asia, and Ola GG. The intentions of these SubDAOs were to expand the guild’s reach to hundreds of millions of gamers in different regions.
Meanwhile, YGG opened up its second scholarship program at the start of February 2022, enabling players to use YGG assets to earn rewards in the cyborg-themed soccer game, CyBall. They are going to continue expanding this scholarship over time. There are scholarships in many other games including Star Sharks, Wonderhero, and of course their top scholarship program: Axie Infinity.
Beyond this, the first quarter of 2022 also saw YGG open 13 new partnerships, totalling over $2.5 million. 63% of these went to play-to-earn game partnerships, 23% went into partnerships with gaming guilds, and the remaining 14% went to platforms and infrastructure that would support the wider play-to-earn ecosystem.
