Degree Metathon is the first marathon in the Metaverse. The run-for-a-cause virtual event aims to promote inclusive representation of movement in Decentraland. That is, everyone should be free to move how they want in the virtual and physical world. The two-day event will start on April 26 at 10:00 PM UTC and end on April 27 at 10:00 PM UTC. You can now RSVP through Decentraland’s events plage.
About Degree Metathon
The Degree Metathon features the first-ever adaptive wearables in Decentraland. In addition, it will use a wheelchair-friendly course to reiterate its advocacy. This marks the start of a journey in designing accessible and inclusive virtual movement spaces for the disability community.
Participants will run alongside the likes of Paralympic medalist Blake Leaper, para-snowboarder Amy Purdy and pro-footballer Hector Herrera. Along with the race, you’ll discover the unique and inspiring stories of the barriers to movements they have personally overcome.
Joining the event means that you’ll help smash barriers to movement in the metaverse!
