Heroes of Mavia is a P2E MMO base-building game on the Ethereum blockchain. Built by Skrice Studios based in Vietnam, the team took inspiration from Axie Infinity and Clash of Clans when creating this game.
To begin with, the game takes place on a fantasy island called “Mavia”. Here, players only have one mission. Which is to build their bases and armies to battle with other players. Winners will earn $RUBY, the in-game reward token in Mavia.

Heroes of Mavia: What you need to know about this MMO game
How to play the game in Heroes of Mavia? It’s pretty simple actually. Players need to build their bases, train their armies, then battle with other players to earn rewards. Just like any base builder game, you will need to come up with the right strategies to manage your bases.
Nonetheless, the Heroes of Mavia game is using a dual token model: $MAVIA (governance token) and $RUBY (in-game reward token). In order to understand how the gameplay and tokenomics work in this game, let’s learn about the 3 types of NFTs in Mavia: Land NFT, Hero NFT, and Statue NFT.

Land/Bases NFT
Lands or bases are at the core of the Heroes of Mavia game. You will need to own at least 1 land NFT to start playing. But if you don’t own any, no worries. In fact, you can always rent or partner with other players’ bases to access the game. According to Skrice, land NFT holders will get exclusive access to internal alpha testing, which is set to take place in Q2 this year. So, you may want to keep an eye out for any good land deals on OpenSea!
Launched in March 2022, there are 10,000 plots of land NFTs in the Heroes of Mavia game. Additionally, these lands come in 3 different rarities: common (70%), rare (20%), and legendary (10%). Here, at the heart of each base is the Headquarters or HQ, where you can upgrade base buildings, troops, heroes, and more using $RUBY. As a matter of fact, upgrading the base’s HQ level will increase the players’ daily maximum $RUBY earning limit in Mavia.

Hero NFT
In the game of Heroes of Mavia, well, Heroes are the ones to hold the fort for you. In fact, they can also join forces to attack rival bases. Each base can only hold up to 4 heroes at once and each Hero has only one special attack. So choose them wisely in order to win more battles. At the moment, Hero NFTs are not available for sale. But each landowner will get 4 non-NFT heroes for each land NFT. These default heroes can be unlocked using $RUBY.

Statue NFT
Each statue provides a unique boost to the base. It can be a boost in resources production, cooldown time, training time, etc. Similar to the Hero NFT, each base can only hold 4 Statue NFTs at a time and these Statues are not available for sale yet. However, land NFT owners can now soft-stake their lands to earn 1 rare Gold Statue NFT, for each land NFT being staked. Each Gold Statue helps produce Gold, which is very useful in constructing and upgrading buildings in the game.

How do I play-to-earn in the game of Heroes of Mavia?
Glad that you’ve asked! I’ve summarised a table on how to earn $MAVIA and $RUBY tokens in the game of Heroes of Mavia. As seen above, players will mainly earn $RUBY by winning battles. Just inflict 50% damage on your opponent’s base and you will be crowned the winner in that battle. As a winner, you get to open up a war chest containing precious $RUBY as a reward.
But interestingly, you can earn $RUBY for successful defenses as well. How? Just make sure your base sustained only 33% damage or less after a battle will do. Sometimes you can also find $RUBY by removing random obstacles like bushes from your base. Completing daily challenges will earn you some $RUBY too.
Now, the best part is that landowners can monetize their lands in 2 ways: base partnerships or rent out bases. When other players partner up to use your base, you can earn the $RUBY proceeds in a 50/50 split. On the other hand, if you rent out your bases, you can charge other players a fixed daily rental fee paid in $MAVIA. In this case, you won’t be able to earn any $RUBY proceeds from the base.
To earn more $MAVIA, you can also stake $MAVIA for governance purposes. Both tokens have not been launched yet. But you can get a glimpse of the $MAVIA tokenomics below. According to Skrice, private sale investors will have a 4-year quarterly vesting schedule. While the team itself will have a 6-year quarterly vesting schedule.

Wait, the Heroes of Mavia game is free-to-play too?
Yes, you’ve heard that right! Early this month, Skrice announced that Heroes of Mavia is free-to-play (F2P) as well. However, P2E features are not available for F2P players. Meaning that F2P players will not be able to earn $RUBY war chests.
But not all hope is lost. F2P players still can earn $RUBY from community tournaments and wagered matches. In fact, if you are a top-ranked player on the F2P leaderboard, you will stand a chance to get whitelist allocation for the main Mavia NFT island.
Final thoughts
All in all, the Heroes of Mavia game will be an exciting project to watch out for this year. To be sure, the game is backed by world-class partners such as Binance Labs, Crypto.com, BITKRAFT Ventures, Delphi Digital, and more. Big player DAOs like YGG, Merit Circle, and GuildFi have confirmed their partnerships with the game as well. Nonetheless, with more players showing interest in blockchain MMO and MMORPG, Heroes of Mavia is bound to make waves in the GameFi space.
