Illuvium is an open-world P2E RPG built on the Ethereum blockchain. The game takes place in 7 amazing alien landscapes, where players can capture Illuvials, form their teams, and battle against each other to earn $ILV.
One thing for sure is that Illuvium has received backing from the likes of Delphi Digital and Yield Guild Games. Recent leaks by some of the private Beta testers have shown some impressive graphics in the game. In fact, there are not many bugs in the game as well. Although Illuvium is still in private Beta, many fans can’t wait for the public Beta in Q2 this year.
What you need to know about Illuvium
The gameplay is pretty straightforward in Illuvium. Here, you’ll play the role of a survivor, exploring the unknown alien world around you. In order to survive, you need to capture Illuvials, form a team, and battle with other players to earn $ILV. It sounds like Pokémon GO, but with P2E elements.
What are Illuvials? Illuvials are strong, powerful NFT monsters scattered in Illuvium. Right now, there are 100s of them. And each possesses its own unique abilities in the game. Moreover, these creatures come in different affinities and classes as shown below.
- Affinities: Fighter, Rogue, Guardian, Psion, Empath.
- Classes: Water, Fire, Earth, Air, Nature.
If you wish to win more battles in Illuvium, you need to make sure that your Illuvials are in sync with each other. Plus, you can fuse 2 Illuvials to form a stronger one. For instance, when you fuse an Air Illuvial and a Fire Illuvial, you will get a Frost Illuvial that is way stronger. As your team levels up and grows stronger, you can bring them to challenge other players in the arena.
In essence, Illuviary is the encyclopedia of all Illuvials species in the game. But there’s a catch. According to the team, there will be no info about Illuvials in advance at all. Instead, players will have to discover all of them by playing the game. Only then, the info of these Illuvials will be unlocked in the Illuviary. Interestingly, if you are to first to discover a new Illuvial, your name will appear next to that Illuvial in the database. How cool is that?
Looking for land NFTs? Meet Illuvium: Zero. It is a separate mobile mini-game that allows players to buy land. There will be 100,000 plots of paid land in the game. But what can we use them for? According to the team, you can build an industrial complex on the land to generate Fuel, an ERC-20 token. Then, you can send these Fuels to the main game, Illuvium, for transportation usage.
All we know is that the first land sale will offer 20,000 plots for sale in a Dutch auction. But there is no official sales date yet. So stay tuned!
Play to earn in Illuvium
So far, the game is only using one in-game cryptocurrency which is the $ILV token. It is both the governance and utility token in the game. As of now, there are a few ways to earn $ILV from Illuvium:
- Complete PvE quests and challenges.
- Win battles in the PvP arena. This can be in the form of ranked battles or wagered matches. For those who bet in wagered matches, you can win $ILV too if the bout’s outcome is in your favor.
- Sell uncommon or rare Illuvials in IlluviDEX, the gas-free in-game marketplace of Illuvium.
- Stake $ILV in the protocol and claim your rewards in the form of $ILV or $sILV2 tokens. Take note that even though $sILV2 is pegged to the value of $ILV, it can’t be used for player-to-player transactions. So you need to think twice if you wish to claim the staking rewards in the form of $sILV2.
Free to play in Illuvium
At last, Illuvium is free to play (F2P) as well. How it works is that F2P players will play at Tier 0 regions, instead of at paid lands in the game. Hence, there won’t be any P2E features for F2P players. Meaning to say they can’t earn $ILV as long as they remain as F2P players. Thus, you will need to buy in-game NFTs if you wish to play to earn in this game.
