Harmony Protocol and Bored Ape Yacht Club are coming together to showcase the power of Web3 community-owned products and services. Basically, the open and fast blockchain for assets and collectibles has launched a Bored Ape Yacht Club passport. Thanks to this, BAYC NFT holders can import proof of their apes into DeFi Kingdoms, a GameFi Play-to-Earn game built on the Harmony blockchain.
Web3 Vision: Harmony Protocol and Bored Ape Yacht Club
The partnership gives us a glimpse of the future where NFTs will enable decentralized access and ownership of assets.
In addition, the cross-over between two realms is a fresh take on interoperability. Due to the limits and infancy of cross-chain technology funds are often put at risk when bridging across chains. So Harmony’s passport mechanism solves this by not moving assets. Instead, the protocol introduced a new way to prove that NFT holders own the BAYC assets on multiple blockchains thereby expanding the usability of NFTs.
Ape holders now have the opportunity to validate and display their assets in the game. This seamless integration allows the Bored Ape Yacht Club owner to connect their Metamask wallet to DeFi Kingdoms and then select which ape they’d like to use for their Defi Kingdoms profile picture. Then, as a bonus, the first 100 ape owners who make their BAYC ape their DK profile picture will receive a special treat. They will get 50 $JEWELS – the main token of value in the DeFi Kingdom game.
By bringing proof of NFTs from Ethereum onto Harmony Mainnet, Harmony has created a funnel between the two communities. BAYC has climbed the Mt. Olympus of NFTs and currently leads the pack commercially, strategically and numerically. Meanwhile, DeFi Kingdoms is the most popular game on Harmony that has hit a record high of 7.2 million transactions.
Harmony Team Member Leo Chen says Bored Ape Yacht Club has one of the most active, diverse, and creative communities in Web3. He elaborated:
“With Harmony, we are constantly looking to partner with like-minded teams, whose ethos aligns with our values and visions. We wanted to give all NFT holders more utility and options to display their NFTs and participate in the metaverse. Bored Ape Yacht Club holders are the first choices. The cross-chain identity creates a secure and easy way to do so without putting their assets at risk.”
Vera Li, Harmony Team Member and BAYC Community Member, also shared her insights. She joined the BAYC community from its beginning in May 2021 and has noticed how the project focuses on building instead of prices. She feels that this aligns with Harmony’s culture. So the partnership will be very fruitful as they bring their strong technical abilities to a very passionate community.
