Yesterday, Arcade announced the sell-out of all of its 10,000 plots of land NFTs. The team concluded its public sale in just 2 minutes, indicating overwhelming support from the community for this project. The pre-sale took place on 31 March, followed by a public sale on 1 April (EST).
From standard to mega-size, plot prices range from 0.25 ETH to 3 ETH. A sell-out of all 10k plots would land the Arcade team a total of 4475 ETH or $15.45 million in sales.
So, what is Arcade?
Arcade is a metaverse created for the NFT community. Yes, literally. According to the team, you can socialize, create, own, play, and live your life as NFT in Arcade. Not to be confused with Yuga Labs’ metaverse game “Otherside”, Arcade is a different metaverse brought by the makers of the BAYC game: Apes VS. Mutants.
The metaverse will be interoperable with various NFTs. So far, the project has partnered with a handful of blue-chip NFTs such as BAYC, MAYC, Karafuru, Phanta Bear, mfers, CyberKongz, and more.
Even though there are not many details on the benefits for land NFT holders, Arcade says these plots will basically serve as your Web 3 home, store, or showroom. And lucky for us, even if you don’t own land or NFT, you can still play on Arcade. According to the team, a beta version of the game will be coming in Q2 2022. So, stay tuned to find out how you can be one of the beta testers!
With the growing number of NFT communities, interoperability has become a key feature for metaverses to scale up in Web 3. For instance, Yuga Labs’s meta RPG will be interoperable with other NFTs. Even FLUF is also looking to build an open metaverse per last month’s announcement. Nevertheless, Web 3 is all about building a global open source community. From the looks of it, things are moving in the right direction.
