Frontier is a blockchain game that is set to launch between July and October 2022. The Frontier P2E game has established a strategic partnership with Ubisoft and is looking to work with Richard Orlinski and Treeverse as well. Presently, the game is still under development. Even the website has limited details regarding gameplay and tokenomics. However, all the character NFTs are already sold out.
The successful NFT sale allows the game to be largely backed by the community. So far, funds have been coming in purely from the primary and secondary NFT sales. This helps the 20-member core team expand with more designers, developers, and marketing personnel. Nevertheless, the team will look to organize seed investment rounds in the future.
Frontier looks to develop a AAA standard play-to-earn game, combining elements of real-time tactics and MOBA. Basically, players need to attack the enemy’s base while protecting their own base. They can choose to use different attacks and traps, or power up their units to obtain various advantages. The team describes Frontier as a combination of League of Legends with a hint of Hearthstone.
Users can also expect an ELO-based ranking system in the game. The prize pool for these competitive players starts at US$1,000,000.
Similar to many other blockchain games, Frontier P2E will run on a layer 2 solution that retroactively integrates all Genesis NFTs and utilities. Furthermore, the new website and the Frontier marketplace will also launch alongside the game. Their current focus is to have at least a scalable foundation ready for the public launch.
The game consists of various NFTs, including character and utility NFTs. The team has been working hard on them since mid-2021. These in-game assets are strategically developed as a part of the larger Watcher universe. In essence, the Frontier game is a way for players to train their soldiers in the Watcher universe.
Firstly, watchers are default units, available for all players. Players will get to equip their heroes with special skins in the future, and also interact with them in Augmented Reality. Currently, there are plenty of watchers available such as Knight, Viking, Samurai, and Lucky.
In addition, ZEROs are special support units that players can use as an element of surprise. Having a ZERO Special or ZERO Classic will act as a lifetime season pass, and also give additional rewards to owners. As a bonus, owners will have PFPs of their ZEROs airdropped to them too.
There is a bunch of other utility NFTs. This includes Flash Drives, Droids, and Stellar Keys. Flash drives are faucet items that allow players to earn in-game tokens. Whereas the Droids are used to craft and upgrade these flash drives. Lastly, Stellar Keys are minted by burning Data Keys. These keys contain all perks for players with additional advantages such as royalties and interests.
Fun blockchain games are hard to come by. With Ubisoft as their strategic partner, the team is definitely in a great position moving forward.
