Roblox and Sony have announced an upcoming virtual concert starring American rapper 24kGoldn. The event will take place this coming Friday, 25 March at 4 PM PST. There will be hourly re-airs throughout the weekend for those who can’t make it.
24kGoldn will bring the first performance of his new single to Roblox
In particular, 24kGoldn will deliver his first public performance of his latest single, “In My Head”, plus “Mood” and other hits from his debut album El Dorado during the concert.
Moreover, the concert features a storyline in which 24kGoldn faces an evil version of himself in a battle, to save the city of “San Dorado”. This fictional city is a combination of San Francisco (24kGoldn’s hometown) and El Dorado (the city of gold). And in this city, 24kGoldn will perform at reimagined iconic locations, giving each song a unique, creative backdrop.
Additionally, 24kGoldn has always been a big fan of Roblox, as he grew up playing the game. “It’s been amazing to be a part of the full experience to make this virtual concert come to life. From coming up with the storyline and transforming my hometown to designing verch, I wanted to give my fans a one-of-a-kind experience,” said the rapper.
24kGoldn Pre-concert Quests
Before proceeding further, good news first: joining the concert is entirely free! All you need to do is to sign-up for an account on the official Roblox website, then install the desktop game client and that’s it.
Now, multiple 24kGoldn-themed pre-concert quests are available on Roblox’s platform. Every day, 2 additional portals will be revealed for players to take part in. Upon completing the quests, players will receive badges that can be redeemed for prizes during the event.
As more people are getting into the metaverse, we believe more organizations will turn to virtual IRL events to engage with their fans or community. This is not the first time we see Roblox organizing a virtual concert. Previously singer-songwriter Tai Verdes hosted a similar event in Roblox last year.
