The Sandbox is back with yet another big partnership announcement. This time, The Sandbox has teamed up with Studio Dragon, the premium storyteller group in South Korea, to create a K-Drama metaverse! With this, the duo will set up a K-drama playground in the Sandbox metaverse based on Studio Dragon’s intellectual property (IP).

The Sandbox x Studio Dragon: All You Need to Know
With the Sandbox x Studio Dragon partnership, K-drama fans will get to enjoy drama content in the metaverse. Basically, the partnership will give rise to a K-drama playground LAND based on Studio Dragon’s IP.
“We are very pleased about this partnership with Studio Dragon, which brings K-drama phenomenon around the world with captive drama slots,” said Cindy Lee, Director of The Sandbox Korea. “K-content fans can experience various content in The Sandbox.”
Furthermore, Studio Dragon will release avatar accessories and in-game NFTs featuring the drama IP. In other words, fans will be able to mint characters, costumes, and props from some of their favourite shows. What’s more, the studio also has plans to create content in collaboration with other global IP in Studio Dragon LAND. This way, K-drama fans will get to enjoy a whole new experience.
“We hope this partnership could provide K-drama fans around the globe with opportunities to enjoy our various content,” said Bong-ryul Ryu, Director of the content IP department of Studio Dragon.
Studio Dragon is the latest to collaborate with The Sandbox, which has built over 200 partnerships through the years. This includes Deadmau5, Steve Aoki, Ubisoft, Atari, The Walking Dead, The Smurfs, and CryptoKitties, to name a few. Recently, the company also released its 2022 LAND owner roadmap.

What is Studio Dragon?
Founded in 2016 by CJ ENM’s drama division, Studio Dragon is a storyteller group that takes care of everything from content planning to production and distribution. A leading Asian drama studio, Studio Dragon boasts 183 global premium IPs. In addition, every year, the studio produces 30 drama series with 279 main creators.
Since its launch, Studio Dragon has produced some of the world’s top-tier drama content for K-content fans in South Korea as well as across the globe. Some of its well-known titles include ‘Sweet Home’, ‘Crash Landing on You’, ‘The Uncanny Counter’, and ‘Yumi’s Cells’. ‘Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha’, ‘Misaeng — Incomplete Life’, ‘Mine’, ‘Vincenzo’, and ‘Hotel del Luna’ are some of the others on the list.
Already, the studio has dropped NFTs featuring IPs from ‘Vincenzo’, ‘Mine’, and ‘Hotel del Luna’. The Vincenzo collection even featured the fan favourite Cassano-patterned lighter NFTs.
With its latest partnership with The Sandbox, Studio Dragon is further cementing its metaverse presence. The move also brings together two burgeoning sectors—K-drama and the metaverse. How K-drama fans react to the move remains to be seen.
